Jardim Botânico

Among parks in the city, Jardim Botânico stands out for its diversity of fauna and flora in the urban area. The approach to nature makes children know, in a fun way, various species of animals and plants that live in Atlantic Forest. In addition, the place has a well structured playground with kids’ swings sets, sand tank and more. If you need to rest, do not worry. There is a small bar in the park where you and your family can have a drink and take a break before proceeding with the tour. Jardim Botânico is located in Zona Sul in Rio de Janeiro and opens from 12 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Tuesday to Sunday.

Parque das Ruínas

With the possibility of making your trip even more interesting, you and your family can go by cable car to the park Parque das Ruínas, since this mean of transportation has returned to circulate through some stretches of Santa Teresa. Among places you must visit with your kids in Rio de Janeiro, Parque das Ruínas stands out for its entertainment diversity. In the park, besides knowing the former residence of Laurinda Santos Lobo, one of the great ladies of the Carioca society, the whole family can enjoy one of the best views of the city.

The park, which runs from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8 am to 6 pm, is very close to Arosa, a hotel option for you and your family to enjoy the walks through the central area without having to go too far.

AquaRio

With 26,000 square meters of built area and 8,000 animals of 350 species in 4.5 million liters of water, AquaRio is the largest marine aquarium in South America. All of this can be reflected in knowledge for children. Open every day from 10 a.m to 6 p.m, AquaRio is one of the best options for those who are staying at Pompeu, our hotel in Porto Maravilha, or even in the Senate, our hotel in downtown Rio.

Museum of Tomorrow

Located in the port area of Rio de Janeiro, Museum of Tomorrow is one of the places you must visit with your kids for interesting knowledge. In this place, children have contact with artistic creations, so that knowledge and imagination are stimulated continuously. In addition, the site has a reading club that allows the exchange of ideas and the development of educational activities. Are you interested? The museum operates from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.

Espaço Cultural da Marinha

Located near Praça XV, in downtown Rio, Espaço Cultural da Marinha offers its visitors a magnificent journey in time. With ample space, the museum has a submarine, a ship and a helicopter, all open to visitation. In a large open pavilion, it is possible to visit the lush exuberant Galeota D. João VI, a vessel built in 1808 and which remained in use until the early years of Brazil’s Republica. Visitors to Nau do Descobrimento, a replica of the ship used by Cabral to reach Brazil, are also available to visitors. From there, it is possible to visit Ilha Fiscal, where the last Empire’s party took place in Rio. This tour is a great way to make kids have another perspective on the history of Brazil. Espaço Cultural da Marinha works from Tuesday to Sunday from 12 a.m. to 5 p.m. For your convenience, you can stay at Pompeu hotel, which is close to the museum and to Porto Maravilha.

Planetário da Gávea

This Planetarium is a great way to teach children about astronomy in a playful and dynamic way. Through museum experiments it is possible to learn, for example, what weight children will have on the moon or another planet in the solar system, learn more about the history of astronomical science with the help of old photos, and watch movies with the special theme of the Museum. This is one of the places you must visit with your kids which, besides fun, brings knowledge and information for kids and  the whole family. It is possible to visit the Planetarium from Tuesday to Sunday from 14:30 to 17:00.

Lagoa

The Lagoa itself already offers incredible views and various possibilities for fun. There are those who prefer to do picnics or pedaling, but you can also take your kids to ride on pedal boats. Not to mention that, near the place, there is Parque dos Patins, a gigantic park where it is possible to rent bicycles or quadricycles to walk with the family. Now, if the intention is to awaken the adventurous spirit of children, an interesting option is Parque da Catacumba. The place not only has trails and a gazebo, but is also structured for practices such as climbing, ziplining and tree climbing.
